Kelly - I love that you are updating this more often. I love your random thoughts.
So - update about the white blood cell test thingy on Ollie? Hope he is alright.
In response to your post about shots, yes they stink and it is too bad that your doc did not warn you about the potential for fever. However, my doctor just told me about some VERY recent research that shows that if you give your child Tylenol before or immediately after they get their shots, that it actually reduces their effectiveness. So it used to be common practice (and probably still is in many offices) to give baby tylenol, but he said that it is more advisable now to wait a while before giving it. Michael got his shots around noon and we gave him tylenol several hours later before bed and he said that was probably okay. Basically, he said that the research showed that if you give the Tylenol to reduce the fever, you are actually reducing the body's immune response to the shot. I don't remember the numbers he quoted, but maybe like if you give your kid tylenol at the same time of the shot, then maybe they are only 85% chance going to get the immunity (verses say 95% chance of immunity), and then that kid might only be immune until they are 30 instead of till they are 50. I don't remember the real numbers, but that was the gist of it.
Anyway, the point was that it is better to wait longer before giving the tylenol to increase the effectiveness of the immunization. So you did Ollie a favor!
