"Shows"

my niece Millie loves TV, or rather "shows", and so do i. For about 5 years of college i didn't have TV at all but none the less as soon as we got married i rapidly incorporated it back into my life. here is the rather embarrassingly long list of shows i watch:

shows i proudly watch and love:
Dexter
Breaking Bad
Chuck
So You Think You Can Dance
Glee
Greek
Lost
Make It or Break It
Modern Family
Vampire Diaries
Scrubs
American Idol

shows i watch but couldn't tell you why:

10 Things I Hate About You
The Office (this show is stupid but Sunny watches it so i am exposed to it)

shows i am watching and moderately enjoy...but are still on a trial basis...some will likely be upgraded to the proudly watch category soon:
Community
Parenthood
30 Rock
Mad Men

the bird

sometimes i think i am quite clever and prop Ollie up so he is sitting on his own. this is what Ollie thinks of it.

my friends Andrea and Spencer came into town this week and we played with them and some other long lost college friends. it was fun. everyone has so many kids (mostly girls) now. [Ollie just filled his diaper.] Ollie is 2 months and he was bigger than my friends little girl who is 4 months. she was able to hold her head up and roll around and Ollie just lay there like a chubby (adorable) lump. :)

sometimes i get the cutest pics of Ollie on my phone. here are a couple of my favs that i finally imported onto my computer.

Also...

Ollie's cord finally came off! Or rather...i yanked it off...on accident...it got caught on his onesie...but it didn't hurt him...and now he's finally a whole person now!...free of his scabby umbilical!!

Good Reads

Good Reads is a great website that caters to my strong love of check lists and ranking and organizing things. Its basically IMDB for books. You can find any book by author, title, etc and rank it out of 5 stars, enter the date you read it, give it a review, recomend it to friends, see what your friends thought of it, catagorize it as "read", "to read", "currently reading", etc. Its lovely.

http://www.goodreads.com/

So anyway, it also has quotes...here are some of my favs:

"People don't remember me. Really. It's not a paranoid thing; I just have this habit of slipping through memories. It doesn't bother me all that much, except I guess that's a lie; it does. For some reason, I test very high on forgettability." — William Goldman (The Princess Bride)
---If you knew me back in the days of the Elms (Niki especially) you might remember that there was a certain young man in our ward named Tom. Tom was my hometeacher for awhile, studied with me and Niki in the library, went on a double date with me once, and was in our ward for a year...every SINGLE time he saw me he thought he was meeting me for the first time. I would ask him follow up quesitons about previous conversations we had and he would stare at me blankly and ask if we had met. He would walk up to all of my roommates to say hi and then turn to me and ask if I was new. It was absolutely ridiculous and hilarious and I have no idea how he could seriously block me out like that.

"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." — Abraham Lincoln
---Basically our motto in high school. I had this on a post it in my locker.

"To conceal anything from those to whom I am attached, is not in my nature. I can never close my lips where I have opened my heart."— Charles Dickens
---Once Niki, Leanna and I made a pact to never share the details or speak of a certain issue called Sea Trek...unfortunately I proved this quote true and betrayed that trust.

"You can't just eat good food. You've got to talk about it too. And you've got to talk about it to somebody who understands that kind of food." — Kurt Vonnegut (Jailbird)
---Ah yes...and maybe this is why Leanna and I became such good friends. (Apparently all quotes seem to remind me of high school and high school friends...)

Sicky

i am sick and Sunny was sick and somehow Ollie is not. i am so so happy and really hope that he doesn't ever get it. interestingly enough, he still has his cord (at 2 months...) and the doctor is concerned that he has a white blood cell disease that would make him more prone to sickness and difficult to get better once sick. i am hoping that the blood test comes back negative and thinking its a pretty good sign that it will since he hasn't caught our colds.

also, Oliver got his vaccinations yesterday and then took like a 3-4 hour nap. when he woke up he screamed for 1-2 hours. i heard from friends to give him tylenol and put warm washcloths on his legs where the shots were. i'm so bugged because the doctor never even told me that he would be sad and in pain when he woke up. lame. i thought he was just hungry at first cause he slept so long so i kept trying to feed him and was probably hurting his poor legs more...sad.

Those Were the Days

I am in Young Womens in my ward. Tonight we discovered that only 1 girl knew who No Doubt was and how did she know them?...her MOM loves them. Then we made the shocking discovery that only 1 girl had even HEARD of Alanis Morrissette. Are you kidding me? When did this happen that we became so old?!?

Favorite Things We Have Now and Didn't in High School:
  • Tivo/DVR
  • Cell Phones
  • Internet/Email (we barely had it, but only a few lucky souls had internet and email was like Juno.com or AOL) (remember when Juno meant crappo email and not hip teen flick?)
  • Netflix (really DVDs themselves could be on this list...)
  • Harry Potter (yep, that's right...the first one came out the fall after i graduated)
  • Digital Cameras
  • I guess iPods...but really i'm not a huge lover of iPods
  • Cafe Rio
  • The Sims
  • Oliver :)
So what am I forgetting? What is everyone else's fav items?

dreaming my dreams...

last night i dreamed that Spencer (Sunny's brother) left some pants at my parents house that my parents wanted us to mail to him...only the pants were freaking huge and apparently Spence gained about 200 lbs.

i also dreamed that Sandy and Spence had both started drinking and Sandy was staying at my parents house, boozing it up.

And finally i dreamed that Sunny was going to the temple with my parents so i was going on a group date with my high school girlfriends (Krista, Rachel, Maile, Leanna, Niki, Korri, Shanna, Kathryn, etc) to Brick Oven or Los Hermanos. I was going to ask either CJ or JT or Ben Gourley.

i love my subconscious...

Ollie-Pop

things i didn't know about having a baby:
  • that he would eat for about 12 hours a day initially
  • that baby blues would only last 2 weeks
  • that my pelvis was too small and C sections really aren't that bad
  • getting pooed and peed on isn't as gross as getting spit up on
  • babies can fart as loud as adults
favorite things about Ollie:
  • his smiles
  • how happy he gets when you change his diaper
  • how he moves his arms and legs while having a bath (it looks like a shimmy)
  • his cooing
  • mooshing his arms
  • how soft his feet are
  • funny stuff he does when nursing

Fake Cough

So my neice Millie would do this fake cough to get attention when she was around a year old. I swear Oliver has already started doing this...he will do a really wussy cough and then I will copy him and then he will smile and do it again. Is this normal behavior for babies or is pretending to be sick to get attention a family trait?

Sims and Sim More

Just in case anyone was bored and wanted some more blogging pleasure...I have 2 other blogs that I don't post to as much, but they contain some quality stuff.

http://themeatspace.blogspot.com/
This blog chronicles the thrilling happenings of my sim world.

http://funchappies.blogspot.com/
This blog has some of my favorite Journal entires and tidbits from my High School Journals. I wrote every day for all of high school since I had SUCH eventful and fulfilling high school years. I am constantly in the process of writing one novel or another and my latest project is based on my high school journals. I will probably be posting some more journal jems on this site as I am reading through my journals.

My Hollywood Heritage

Whitney (my sis) is apparently asian according to MyHeritage.com. I, on the other hand, am married to Indiana Jones (Calista Flockhart), fight with Paris Hilton and have a dad that can go "All Night Long" (Nicole Richie), or lose track of my boobs (Tara Reid).

Smiles

Oliver is being so cute lately! He smiles and makes cute noises and lays awake kicking and squirming and smiling for an hour or so. It used to be if he was awake he was crying or eating. Here is a video that is probably boring for everyone but me, and some pics. :)

Best Movies of the Year

Every year I watch everything that was nominated for anything and get really excited about the Oscars. This year because of Ollie I didn't see all of them, but did see quite a few. I am very happy that Hurt Locker won over Avatar and although I think it is a sad year for acting when Sandra Bullock gives the "best" performance...I did enjoy her speech. If Helen Mirren or Meryl Streep won again it wouldn't have been as exciting.

I also make my own Top Ten every year. Below are my favorite movies of the year. I'm not saying all of these movies should have won Best Picture, but they all did a great job in the vein they were in. Please share your thoughts or let me know if you think I forgot any movies. This figures in both quality of the film as well as just my enjoyment of the movie.

#1 Inglorious Basterds

#2 Adventureland

#3 Precious

#4 Zombieland

#5 Away We Go

#6 Fantastic Mr Fox

#7 Watchmen

#8 Coraline

#9 500 Days of Summer

#10 Crazy Heart

Honorable Mentions:

A Serious Man
District 9
Drag Me to Hell
Up in the Air

Stinky

Oliver's farts and diapers stink now. I miss the days of pre-stink. Today he pooed up his back. After I changed him he just lay there smiling really big for a long time.

Yesterday Ollie puked all over himself and me (TONS) twice in 10 minutes. Below is a picture of him in time out while I clean myself up for the 3rd time. He ofcourse is loving life and has no idea he is being punished for disgusting behavior.
