Dead Thumb

Generally I think I am one of those people that isn't great at very many things, but I am decent at most things I try and don't have to worry about making a fool of myself. There are a few exceptions to this. Here they are in reverse order:

  1. Baking. I can cook ok, but if I attempt to make a batch of cookies or a cake from scratch, you don't want to eat it. It probably won't even be nice to look at. Thank goodness for No Bake Cookies.
  2. Boarding - any sort. Long Boarding, Snowboarding, Skiing, Skateboarding, Wake Boarding, even rollerblading, ice skating etc. Anything that requires balance and doesn't have handlebars, count me out. I have never met anyone worse at it. I can't even figure out if I am goofy foot or not, I have done all the tests and get mixed results every time.
And most importantly because it is really what spurred this post.....
3. Gardening or green thumbing of any kind. And i HATE it. I just weeded for about an hour for maybe the 4th time in my life and i hated every second of it. I don't even know what is ground cover and what is a weed. And when plants die does that mean their season is over? or that we didn't water them? and how do you know which is when? and do you dig them out by their roots? or just chop them off or something and they come back? and again, how do you know? and its hot, and dirty, and there are lots of bugs, and the end result...our yard looks like crap.

First thing I'm paying for when we strike it rich...a gardner.

Grand Prix

Oh yeah, and Sunny was the Grand Winner at his work Go Cart party. He probably won an Apple TV but so far we haven't collected. He DID get a lovely silver painted race car trophy for his troubles so that's all that matters.

Moving In and also, go buy me stuff

We officially live west of the freeway. I never thought I would do it. But we LOVE it!

We made about 7 trips to Lowes...at least...maybe more. Ollie found a little piece of heaven in the fan aisle. He is obsessed with fans.

We visited the numerous Daybreak pools and parks and Ollie even sports his Cars sunglasses he picked out on his own.

Oquirrh Lake is home to the world's hugest goose. The thing is massive. This picture doesn't do it justice.

This nasty little bugger was here to welcome us when we moved in. Sick. Pest control came today for $12. City Deals is awesome.

Ollie got a hair cut at the busiest Cookie Cutters in existence, literally, and loved it.

And we found some new hikes in the Oquirrh Mountains (but no, I probably haven't learned to spell Oquirrh yet...)

And finally, I got to go shopping for GIRL clothes! But unfortunately everything I love is pricey. So all you rich friends out there, please go out and purchase the below white dress with Navy bows and the below red polka dot shoes, and the below pink tulle dress. athankyou.

Liberty Park

We hit up the rides in Liberty Park and it was a huge hit. Ollie LOVED it. He would freak out when he had to wait his turn and scream and try to climb through the fence. He would get his body and arm and leg through and his darn huge head would keep him safe and out of the fence. If it wasn't so cute it would have been cause for some serious time out.

This is Ollie's little friend Ayda looking ADORABLE.

Ollie flying high!

Max seemed a little confused about all this...

All the kiddos on the plane

Tracy's Wedding

My sister Tracy is 10 year's younger than me and just got MARRIED. I can't believe that she is that old, or that I am that old for that matter. Whitney came into town and Ollie and Millie had tons of fun playing together. They are so freaking cute.

Tracy married Kyle Hill, who is great. They got married in the Provo temple on June 17.

Not the best picture, but her dress looks awesome.

They had a reception in my parents backyard and it was probably the best receiption I have been too. It was so pretty. Tracy had great friends that helped her put everything together and she made all her own centerpeices and ball lampy thingys and Lindsey printed some of their bridals on antiqued wood (which she does for others as well...let me know if you are interested) and my parents spent hours working on the yard and it was soo pretty.

Cruisin

My parents watched Ollie for a whole week and we went on a cruise with our friends. It was so weird and great to get away.

Sunny and I in Cayman Islands after snorkling and seeing a 5 foot Tarpin fish that sort of resembles a shark but is harmless.

So I used the Hipstamatic ap on my phone a bit too much and some didn't work out so great but this is probably the only formal picture we have.

The girls chillin on the beach in Honduras...probably the best most relaxing part of the trip. We saw a barracuda swimming around in the water also.

The boys in Honduras.

The whole crew in Honduras

In Belize we rented ghetto awesome scooters from some locals and went exploring around. We couldn't really find a great beach to play at but we saw some real less touristy parts of Belize and it was fun.

The Dalton's backs and the Mayan Ruins of Tulum outside of Cozumel.

The Turners chillin in the comedy club waiting for our excursion

Us and the Daltons looking a little creepy or drunk or both while waiting for our excursion

Gettin cozy in the comedy club

I didn't get a picture of all of the card games we played or of the lovely Shim we spent the whole cruise stalking, or the cookies Sunny spent the whole trip stalking, but these were all lovely parts as well.

Shows

Ollie loves "shows" and always wants to watch movies in the car or "Fin" (Phineas and Ferb) or "Y" (Super Why). This was taken in May...sorry I can't figure out how to rotate movies. I need to remember to film horizontally...

Random pics and stuff

Here is a random selection of pictures from the month of May...one day we will post in real time.

Ollie found this swim diaper and although he hates hats, he was very insistent that he wear this on his head and he kept it on for at least 5 minutes.

Ollie took swimming lessons with his buddy Dane. We thought we'd try to work off those little man boobies, but he was not a big fan of swim lessons.

This is like my favorite picture ever of Ollie. So cute.

We had Ollie's head looked at by a Cranial Facial doctor who said Ollie's head was an 8.5 out of 10 (10 being bad) for flatness and needed a helmet, but that he was getting old so we had to hurry. But our insurance denied the claim and I think its growing out on its own so we decided to forgo the $2000 helmet...hopefully Ollie doesn't look like a freak and hate us later on. He's too cute to look freakish though.

We visited Kitty Grandma and Grandpa and saw cousin Dylan play in a baseball game. Ollie loved the licorice and climbing on the bleachers.

Church was at crappy 1:30 so we would go feed the ducks with Dad every Sunday morning. It was one of the highlights of the week for Ollie. Luckily now there are ducks basically in our backyard so he can feed them multiple times a day...if I am feeling nice...

Daybreakians

Hi all. Just a quick note to say that we are still alive. Here's an outline of what we've been up to...and also why I have been slacking on the blog...

  • Went on an 8 day cruise with our friends the Turners and Daltons to Honduras, Cayman Islands, Belize and Cozumel while my parents chilled with Ollie
  • My sister Whitney and her fam came into town from Memphis
  • My sister Tracy got married and became Mrs Kyle Hill and they had the most incredible reception ever in my parents back yard
  • We bought a house in Daybreak (South Jordan) and moved in 2 weeks ago
  • Sunny flew to Colorado to see his niece get baptized
  • I hit 20 weeks and we found out we are having a girl! Oh yeah...I'm pregnant...did I say that yet? I figured it was a girl cause I have been sick sick sick except for the miracle of zofran.
  • Ollie talks like crazy and says "No" to everything and repeats everything we say and is a cutie cutie! Here are some of his favorite words (of course all said with some issues, but still interpretable): plane, flower, rock, ball, car, truck, "ew", "way" - means "throw a way", no, "hep" - means yes, "bee" - means blanket, Phin - means anything from phineas and ferb, milk, toast, toes, cheeks, eyes, ears, knee, shoe, show, hat, hair, pillow, dog, all animal noises we can think of too teach him, pig, Pa, Dad, Mom, "Mee" - means Millie or Millie's mom (Whitney), "Ru" - Ruby, towel, bowl, plate, spoon, fork, pizza, quesadilla, duck, and the list goes on and on
Thank you to our amazing old ward and neighbors that were a HUGE help when we moved and thank you to our new neighbors who brought us food and helped with Ollie and thank you to my family for help painting and especially Dad for the yard work help! Seriously one day I will need to get my life together and start paying people back for all the help they have given us!!

I will try to repost and get some pictures up soon too...
